Event description:

The ongoing destruction and loss of cultural heritage in North Africa and the Middle East is a cause for worldwide concern and condemnation. As is the exodus of people and talent from some parts of the region resulting in the loss of cultural knowledge, local arts and crafts.

Led by IPCH Director Stefan Simon and co-hosted by the Victoria & Albert Museum as a follow-up to the joint 2015 colloquium, this event will convene stakeholders and decision-makers to discuss ways to help inform the current situation, especially on efficient response to looting, illicit trade, the destruction of sites and urban fabric, the humanitarian impact and loss of local skills, crafts and indigenous knowledge.

If you would like to participate as a panelist, please contact Stefan Simon (stefan.simon@yale.edu) and Vernon Rapley  (v.rapley@vam.ac.uk). More information is available here
